Our Father

Have you really given much thought to the truth about God as your Father? Regardless of our perspective on our earthly father, we have the best of all blessings in the Sovereign as our Father. The implications of this truth are almost staggering when we allow them to sink in.

Here are just a few:

* Relationship - close family relationship with our Creator, all the privileges of family
* Love & Care - He loves and cares for us as His children, this is so powerful
* Discipline - the fairest and most helpful guidance and instruction, desiring the best for us
* Security - He will never abandon His children or disown us, we are heirs with Christ

J. I. Packer rings this bell so clearly when he writes in Knowing God, "What is a Christian? The question can be answered in many ways, but the richest answer I know is that a Christian is one who has God as Father." [emphasis added]

Dear Christian, if you are indeed a follower of Jesus Christ by faith, you have Almighty God as your Father. That is a marvel and a joy.

"See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him." 1 John 3:1

Amen!
